The Order of Application (Yes, It Matters)

Layering products correctly ensures each one can do its job. Here is the golden rule: Thinnest to thickest.

Prep and hydrate
3
Serum/Treatment
Targeted concerns
4
Moisturizer
Seal and protect
5
Sunscreen (AM only)
Final shield

Morning Routine:

  1. Cleanse (or just rinse with water if dry)

  2. Serum (if using)

  3. Moisturizer

  4. Sunscreen

Evening Routine:

  1. Double cleanse (oil cleanser + water cleanser) if wearing makeup or sunscreen

  2. Serum or treatment

  3. Moisturizer (richer at night)

Common Beginner Mistakes (And How to Avoid Them)

Mistake #1: Starting too many actives at once

Your skin needs time to adapt. Introduce one new product every 1–2 weeks. If you start retinol, vitamin C, and exfoliants simultaneously, you will not glow—you will peel.

Mistake #2: Over-exfoliating

Exfoliation is helpful, not mandatory. Once or twice a week is plenty for beginners. Your skin should never feel raw or burn.

Mistake #3: Skipping sunscreen when using actives

Retinol, AHAs, and BHAs make your skin more sensitive to the sun. Sunscreen is not optional here, it's part of the treatment.

Mistake #4: Chasing trends instead of listening to your skin

Just because it went viral doesn't mean it's right for you. Skin cycling, slugging, and 10-step K-beauty routines work for some, but simplicity wins for most.
